I.) Answer the following questions after sharing your ideas with your partner
a.) The poet says, “my heart leaps up.” Why do you think he feels this way?

Answer: The rainbow and its beauty attract the poet so much that his heart leaps up with joy.
 
b.) When did the speaker first have these feelings about the rainbow?

Answer: When poet’s life began, he had these feelings about the rainbow.
 
c.) Discuss with your partner and write a few sentences on why the poet wants to continue to have these feelings about the rainbow even when he grows old.

Answer: The poet seems to be a true admirer of the nature and its elements so he wants to enjoy every bit till the last day of his life.
 
d.) What does the poet mean by the term, “natural piety”?

Answer: The poet is fascinated by the rainbow since he first saw it. The habit of praising the nature was formed in his childhood so he wishes to have the same thing in his old age too. He is true devotee of the nature and his continues to be so. He is amazed by the creation of the nature and he pays his reverence each day.
 
e.) The poet shows that life without the ability to see beauty in Nature is meaningless. Or, he points to how a rainbow brings out the child in us. Do you agree with these statements? Explain.
Answer: The poet wants to show us that life without nature is meaningless. We, humans are gifted with most amazing treasure called nature and we should embrace it with our open arms.
 
II.) Write a short paragraph (about four sentences) on your experience of seeing a rainbow.
Answer: It was so wonderful to see different colors at one time. Rainbows made me happy and delighted. It made me wonder about the beautiful creation of the nature. It was a sight for my sore eyes. It was a magical experience to pen down.No wonder many poets have composed poems on the rainbow because of its pure and rare beauty.
III.) Identify the major figure of speech in this poem. Give some similar examples .
Answer: Paradox.
